1. Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in medicine and healthcare. This full-time opportunity invites physicians, clinicians, pharmacists, and medical researchers to help train and refine AI systems capable of reasoning across a wide range of medical disciplines. As a Medicine Specialist, you will provide high-quality input and annotations to help AI models understand clinical decision-making, diagnostics, patient management, and medical research processes.

You will collaborate with technical teams to improve annotation tools, develop data workflows, and select challenging medical problems that enhance AI model accuracy and utility. This role requires adaptability, precision, and a passion for innovation at the intersection of medicine and artificial intelligence.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Use proprietary tools to label, annotate, and evaluate data across medical and healthcare topics
  • Contribute expertise in fields such as diagnostics, patient care, pharmacology, and imaging
  • Collaborate with technical teams to refine data annotation systems and AI training processes
  • Analyze complex medical problems and provide structured, evidence-based solutions
  • Support AI model development by contributing data in text, audio, and video formats
  • Assist in improving access to high-quality medical information and resources globally
  • Interpret evolving task instructions and maintain accuracy, consistency, and sound clinical judgment


3. Ideal Qualifications

  • MD, DO, NP, PharmD, DDS, DMD, or a Master’s/PhD in a related medical or scientific field
  • Strong command of both informal and professional English communication
  • Skilled in using medical databases, journals, and online research tools
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and apply expert judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Passion for innovation and advancement in medical technology and AI applications


4. Preferred Background

  • Multiple publications or first-author papers in reputable medical or scientific journals
  • Teaching or tutoring experience in clinical or academic medicine
  • Prior experience in AI data training, technical writing, or scientific communication


5. Work Environment

  • Fully remote role with flexible scheduling based on team needs
  • U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois
  • Must have reliable smartphone access and use a computer meeting one of the following requirements: a Chromebook, a Mac running macOS 11 or newer, or a Windows PC running Windows 10 or newer
  • Open to working occasional evenings or weekends based on team needs, with flexibility appreciated.


6. Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 annually for U.S.-based professionals, depending on experience and location
  • For international candidates, compensation ranges are available upon request
