Stream Design Engineer
Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
Locations: Philadelphia or Pittsburgh areas
Hybrid or fully remote with 10% travel
Role Overview
We're seeking a motivated Stream Design Engineer responsible for planning and executing stream channel restoration and design projects with a focus on preparing stream and wetland design drawings and specifications, wetland mitigation and section 401 regulatory permits. This role involves preparing detailed site plans using natural stream design principles and techniques and developing E&S strategies that comply with environmental regulations. The Stream Design Engineer works with the Project Manager to participate in construction administration activities and performs construction oversight to ensure construction meets the approved design and permit requirements. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant solutions for stream restoration projects.

Responsibilities
- Working independently or as part of a team.
- Coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assisting in oversight of construction activities and ensuring compliance with design standards.
- Assisting with public meetings.
- Working on and understanding more complex designs.
- Assist in submittal/shop drawing reviews.
- Assist in RFI responses.
- Assist in construction punch lists.
- Assist in E&S inspections.
- Understanding basic project budget and scheduling.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field
- 5-7 years’ experience in stream/wetland restoration design
- Stream and floodplain restoration including fluvial geomorphology, hydrology and hydraulics natural stream channel design experience
- Rosgen levels 1-4 preferred
- Wetland restoration design experience
- Understanding and experience with Sections 402 & 404 of the Clean Water Act regulations and permitting
- Stream and wetland mitigation experience
- Proficiency in engineering software and design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.)
- Proficient communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Has experience exercising limited judgement in work details and the application of standard methods.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Successfully passed the EIT.
