Position Description

The Vice President of Sales will drive the commercial strategy and execution across all sales channels, including national and regional retail, mass, specialty beauty, and emerging markets. This leader will be responsible for driving revenue, market share expansion, and building a strong sales organization that can scale with the company. The VP will be directly responsible for developing and executing integrated strategies to grow and build the brand at retail across the United States and Canada, long-term profitability through strategic investment and disciplined sales planning. This role combines high-level strategic oversight with rigorous operational execution, ensuring that all sales channels function cohesively and align with our strategy.

This individual will be a part of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the CEO of North America. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in the personal care or beauty space, understands the nuances of retail and digital sales, and can thrive in an entrepreneurial & small company environment. We are ready for the next phase of growth with the right investments and integrated strategies in key sales channels.

This is a remote position based in the United States. Occasional travel (estimated 25-35%) is expected, inclusive of our North America Headquarters in Irvington, NY (located 20 miles north of New York City) for leadership meetings, team planning sessions, and company events as well as travel to key customers and industry events.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Strategy & Leadership

  • Strategic Vision: In partnership with Marketing, define the multi-year commercial strategy for North America, identifying key growth opportunities across Mass, Specialty Beauty, Grocery, and Pure-Play E-commerce channels that align with the brand's natural CPG identity.
  • Leadership Team: Act as a strategic partner on the team, contributing commercial expertise to overall business planning, resource allocation, and organizational development decisions. Liaise with key stakeholders and leaders to collectively develop growth strategies, including Supply Chain and Finance.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales organization (including Field Sales, National Account Management, and Sales Planning), instilling a culture of accountability, integrity, and brand advocacy.
  • P&L Ownership: Take full ownership of the North American net revenue, gross margin, and trade spend P&L, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded while maintaining brand premiumization.

Sales Planning, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), and Operations

  • Integrated Sales Planning: Direct all sales planning activities, including annual budget development, monthly business reviews and joint business planning (JBP) with top retailers.
  • Forecasting & S&OP: Lead the rigorous sales forecasting process, serving as the central link to Finance and Supply Chain to ensure accurate, consensus-driven demand planning and optimal inventory levels.
  • Trade Investment Optimization: Develop and manage a best-in-class Revenue Growth Management (RGM) framework for trade spend, pricing architecture, and promotional strategies to maximize profitable sales volume and ROI.
  • Operational Discipline: Establish standardized sales processes, tools, and performance metrics across the department to drive efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring compliance with trade terms and promotional guidelines.
  • Business Intelligence: Direct the sales operations function to analyze syndicated data (SPINS/Nielsen), POS data, and internal shipment data to identify market trends, competitive shifts, and opportunities for distribution and shelving gains.

Customer and Channel Management

  • Key Account Negotiation: Lead top-tier negotiations and foster strong, executive-level relationships with major North American retailers, distributors, and e-commerce partners.
  • Channel Expansion: Strategically identify and secure new distribution points and channels that align with the brand's mission and target consumer, driving physical and digital shelf presence. Expand the company's retail and distribution footprint through strategic partnerships and new business development.
  • Broker & Agency Management: Oversee and optimize the performance of any third-party sales brokers or agencies, ensuring they are fully aligned with brand standards and commercial targets.
  • Brand Advocacy: Ensure the brand story, natural sourcing, and sustainability commitments are translated into compelling, authentic commercial narratives for both retail partners and consumers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive CPG sales experience, with at least 5 years in an executive or senior leadership role (Director/VP level) managing national accounts and teams.
  • Mandatory experience in the Beauty, Skincare, or Personal Care CPG sector, with a strong preference for candidates experienced with natural, clean, or plant-based brands.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with senior leaders at major North American retailers (e.g., Mass, Specialty).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the agility to thrive in a lean, fast-paced environment; comfortable wearing multiple hats and taking a hands-on approach to achieve results.
  • Deep functional expertise in Sales Planning, Trade Promotion Management (TPM), Forecasting, and Revenue Growth Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans that have successfully delivered significant revenue and profit growth.
  • Exceptional financial acumen, negotiation skills, and presentation abilities.
  • Track Record of strong cross functional partnership.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $250,000-/+. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition, Weleda offers a variety of benefits to eligible team members, including health insurance coverage, 401k, paid leave programs, 20 vacation days, paid holidays, generous employee discount and others. Many of these benefits are subsidized or fully paid for by the company. A background check will be required for this role.
