The program provides First Nations, Inuit and Métis students with work experience, opportunity to develop professional skills and provide exposure to health care in BC. We aim to match your skills, education focus and career interests with available opportunities at the FNHA.

Title: Raising the Canoe - First Nations Student Program

Salary: $19.87 - $26.75 - $29.43 per hour (pay range explained below)

Contract: 4 Months – (Cohorts run: January to April, May to August, and September to December)

Hours: 37.5 Hours, Monday – Friday (Core hours 9am -3pm)

Location: Various Locations, B.C.

About The Role

As an First Nations Student, you will have a meaningful experiences that will enable you to pursue a career at FNHA or in the health care field. You will learn different aspects of First Nations healthcare programs and services. You will take part in professional development courses and LinkedIn learning account; have direct support and regular check-ins. You will participate in an end of term cultural ceremony and social, and ongoing career support.

About You

To be eligible in this program you will have/be –

  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis students
  • Reside in British Columbia during the program
  • Recent high-school graduate within one-year, enrollment in a post-secondary school (Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Masters), or training program. Open to co-op or practicum students.

Depending on your interests and availability at the FNHA, you could join teams such as:

  • Policy, Planning and Strategic Services | Health Benefits | Public Health | Corporate (Finance, Human Resources, IMIT etc.) | Environmental Health | Project and Admin support and more!

The Pay Range explained: Bachelor's Year 1 & 2: $19.87/hr, Bachelor's Year 3: $21.11/hr, Bachelor's Year 4: $22.35/hr, Master's Year 1: $24.82/hr, Master's Year 2: $26.98/hr, Graduated Master's: $29.43/hr (experience related to field of study will also be considered when assessing salary placement)
