Key Responsibilities

As a Business Development Associate, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth across diverse territories by fostering meaningful connections with clients in North and South America. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve executing strategic initiatives aimed at expanding the customer base while collaborating with internal teams to design technical educational programs tailored for each client’s unique requirements. You will be expected to analyze market trends, monitor competitor activity, and leverage these insights to uncover new business opportunities. By managing client accounts attentively and supporting key partners throughout their journey, you will help ensure high levels of satisfaction and loyalty. Regular participation in remote meetings with international colleagues will keep you connected with global operations, while travel assignments offer valuable exposure to different markets. Success in this position requires excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability when engaging with multicultural teams, and a genuine passion for delivering value-driven solutions.

  • Analyze competitive activities and industry trends to identify new business opportunities and support the expansion of product offerings.
  • Manage client accounts by providing responsive support to key partners, ensuring their requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Drive sales pipeline activities from opportunity identification through to successful conversion, maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver bespoke solutions that address specific client challenges within the oils and fats sector.
  • Participate in weekly after-hours remote meetings with colleagues based in Asia to ensure seamless coordination on global projects.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time within the US, regional markets in North and South America, and occasionally to Asia for business meetings or training sessions.
  • Contribute insights gained from market analysis to inform product development strategies and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Support ongoing account management initiatives by identifying areas for improvement and proactively addressing potential issues.

Key Requirements

Your academic background or equivalent practical expertise equips you with deep industry insight necessary for understanding complex client needs. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is advantageous given the geographic scope of this role; however, what truly sets you apart is your ability to build rapport across cultures through empathy and effective communication. Your analytical mindset enables you to interpret market signals quickly while your organizational strengths ensure smooth management of multiple priorities. Adaptability is essential as you engage regularly with international teams during non-standard hours. Above all else, your commitment to nurturing long-term partnerships aligns perfectly with this company’s ethos of achieving results together.

  • Three to five years of B2B experience specifically within the food or vegetable oils & fats industry, showcasing your familiarity with sector-specific challenges.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of customer bases or technical background related to oils & fats products, enabling you to provide informed guidance to clients.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable as it enhances your ability to communicate effectively across diverse markets.
  • Willingness and comfort traveling up to 30% of the time within North/South America as well as occasional trips to Asia for business purposes.
  • Ability to participate regularly in after-hours remote meetings with colleagues based internationally, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
  • Strong analytical skills allowing you to interpret industry data, assess competitive landscapes, and identify emerging opportunities for growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities that foster trust-based relationships with clients while promoting teamwork internally.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills for managing multiple accounts simultaneously without compromising attention to detail or responsiveness.
