About Blue J

Blue J is the leading generative AI solution for tax professionals. As a B2B SaaS company, our customers are accountants and tax experts who rely on our market-leading software to deliver fast, accurate, and defensible answers to complex tax questions.

With the launch of our flagship generative AI product, we’ve consistently exceeded our revenue targets quarter over quarter and continue to accelerate our growth. Our product roadmap is ambitious, customer-focused, and designed to deliver exceptional value at speed.

On the heels of our $122M USD Series D funding, we’re scaling quickly and building the IT foundation to support Blue J’s next stage of growth. We’re looking for an IT Systems & Operations Manager to own and evolve our internal IT environment from devices and identity to SaaS tools and automation.

This is a unique opportunity to build systems that are secure, scalable, and employee-friendly while working across the entire company to keep our teams productive and ready for what’s next.

A Note on Location

This role is primarily remote, with the expectation you are able to join us in office to collaborate 1-3 times per quarter - ideally within reasonable driving distance to downtown Toronto.

The Opportunity

Here’s your chance to take the lead on IT at Blue J and make a real impact. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how we manage devices, identity, SaaS tools, and automation - with plenty of freedom to make things work smarter, faster, and better for everyone.

You’ll collaborate with our COO and teams across the company to drive IT projects, streamline employee support, and prepare us to scale. If you love solving problems, building systems that work beautifully, and helping people do their best work, you’ll thrive here.

This Role Is a Great Fit If You

  • Have experience with IT operations, SaaS administration, and employee support
  • Enjoy designing systems and processes - and don’t mind rolling up your sleeves to make them work
  • Love working with others and seeing things through to the finish line
  • Get excited about automation and tying systems together to eliminate repetitive tasks
  • Can spot scaling issues before they happen and put proactive solutions in place

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deploy and maintain SSO/IAM (Okta, Azure AD, or Google Identity) with automated onboarding/offboarding and permission reviews for macOS, Windows, and Linux endpoints
  • Design, implement, and manage MDM solutions
  • Write and maintain IT policies and SOPs, collaborating with Security & Compliance for alignment
  • Administer core SaaS applications (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Atlassian), ensuring appropriate role-based access controls
  • Evaluate and roll out new IT tools to improve scalability, security, and productivity
  • Maintain endpoint compliance (patching, disk encryption, EDR/antivirus, OS updates)
  • Oversee the full device lifecycle: procurement, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and secure decommissioning
  • Manage software licensing, renewals, and usage tracking
  • Monitor and resolve email deliverability issues (SPF/DKIM/DMARC, blacklists)
  • Provide timely, hands-on IT support for employees while documenting and automating recurring requests
  • Partner with Security & Compliance to support SOC 2 and other audits, supplying IT-related evidence
  • Continuously identify scaling risks and address them through automation, process improvements, and documentation

What You Offer Blue J

  • Strong hands-on experience in IT systems administration or IT operations, ideally across multiple SaaS/tech companies
  • Experience with MDM solutions (Jamf, Kandji, Intune, or similar)
  • SSO/IAM administration experience (Okta, Azure AD, or Google Identity) including automated provisioning (SCIM/JIT)
  • SaaS administration skills for Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, and Microsoft 365
  • Knowledge of endpoint security (patching, disk encryption, EDR)
  • Comfort with scripting/automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to streamline IT workflows
  • Problem-solving ability across devices, networks, and SaaS applications
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make technical topics clear for non-technical teammates
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and thrive in a fast-growing environment
  • Bonus: experience building IT processes and scaling from 50–250 employees
  • Bonus: familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits, HRIS systems, email authentication standards, and zero-trust principles

What We Offer You

  • A rare opportunity to own and evolve our internal IT environment from devices and identity to SaaS tools and automation.
  • A mission-driven culture where your work directly advances clarity, efficiency, and accessibility in tax research.
  • Competitive base salary, stock options, and benefits designed to support you and your family.
  • Flexibility in how you work: primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Toronto office and conferences as needed.
  • A collaborative, ambitious, and supportive team that values innovation, respect, and fun.
  • The excitement of a fast-growing, well-funded company with clear momentum, and the resources to back bold initiatives.

The Core Values that Define Our Culture

  • We are customer-focused
  • We put the team interest before self-interest
  • We are pleasant and playful
  • We are open to better ideas
