Job Title: Content Creator/Video Specialist- PT

Reports To: Public Information Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Grade: 103
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility for this position will be to develop and disseminate strategic communication and public information materials to continue building positive awareness for the City of Destin. Functions could include digital media work, visual media, written collateral materials, and content creation. The individual selected will report to the Public Information Director and be expected to be a self-starter with strong initiative, creativity and an excellent attention to detail. The position is considered remote, but it does require travel to various sites for videography captures, event participation and other duties.

- Demonstrates commitment to Team Destin and our mission, vision, values, and goals and represents the city in a professional, dignified manner at all times both in actions and appearance.
- Contributes to the development and accomplishment of home team work-plans.
- Demonstrate competent knowledge of all applicable polices, codes, ordinances, regulations and statutes.
- Demonstrate competent knowledge of all divisional Key Functions and their associated processes.
- Create video content for social media
- Shoot video for instructional and promotional purposes for dissemination to media and use in presentations
- Edit video
- Assist in writing and editing scripts
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Experience in digital marketing and/or public relations, with understanding of Associated Press style, news releases, videography and social media content creation and metrics.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Be creative and able to work with subject matter experts to turn ideas into compelling scripts that are shared through video
- Provide feedback to SME’s on project timelines, potential challenges, and suggestions and ideas to take a project idea from concept to completion
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent proofreading skills
- Work in a team environment, with stakeholders from a wide variety of departments, including corporate communications, marketing, design, and social media
- Previous municipal experience a plus
- Develop, plan, shoot edit and distribute video via YouTube, Facebook, mobile applications, and/ or internal/ external audiences.
- Understanding of web traffic metrics, HTML and web publishing
