Valtech is hiring a Legal Counsel, Labor & Employment to join our growing Americas team. This is a high-impact role within our global consulting business, with responsibility for safeguarding company rights and interests, leading employment law compliance programs, managing litigation and disputes, and advising on strategic legal initiatives. You’ll play a key role in our legal team by bringing a sharp point of view on labor law, regulatory compliance, and risk management, while inspiring confidence, action, and trust.
This position will work primarily in the areas of labor law and employment relations across Canada and the US, helping the organization navigate complex challenges in employee disputes, administrative investigations, corporate restructurings, and global compliance efforts.

Valtech is hiring a Legal Counsel, Labor & Employment to join our growing Americas team. This is a high-impact role within our global consulting business, with responsibility for safeguarding company rights and interests, leading employment law compliance programs, managing litigation and disputes, and advising on strategic legal initiatives. You’ll play a key role in our legal team by bringing a sharp point of view on labor law, regulatory compliance, and risk management, while inspiring confidence, action, and trust.
This position will work primarily in the areas of labor law and employment relations across Canada and the US, helping the organization navigate complex challenges in employee disputes, administrative investigations, corporate restructurings, and global compliance efforts.

- Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting (a plus)
- You will safeguard Valtech's rights and interests in the areas of labor law, employee disputes, administrative investigations, and corporate restructuring.
- You lead the implementation and maintenance of Valtech’s employment law compliance programs in North America. You will also support some global company activities related to labor law.
- Manage litigation files comprehensively, including defending the company and negotiating settlements.
- Advise the company on its strategy for preventing and resolving employment disputes.
- Contribute to strategic projects that support the organization’s employment relations activities.
- Review applicable legislative or regulatory provisions.
- Analyze and address complex legal issues, prepare legal opinions, and make recommendations.
- You will be responsible for coordinating, directing, and supervising the mandates given to external lawyers, ensuring the legal quality of acts, contracts, and documents to ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian laws.
- Collaborate with the global legal team (20+ colleagues) and support the General Counsel’s Office in the globally on legal initiatives and cross-functional projects.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- You hold an undergraduate degree in law and are a member in good standing of a Canadian bar association; membership in a U.S. bar is considered a strong asset.
- You have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in employment law and litigation, ideally in a law firm or in-house environment.
- You have a strong interest in labor & employment law, workplace investigations, and dispute resolution, and are comfortable advising across multiple jurisdictions.
- You are fluent in English and French, and able to support employment law matters across Canada and the United States, including effective communication with employees and stakeholders in both regions.
- You have working knowledge of both common law and civil law systems, and can adapt your analysis accordingly.
- You are motivated to work on regional and international projects in a collaborative and multicultural environment.
- You have strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills, and a practical mindset aligned with business needs.
- You are proficient with Office 365 tools and open to adopting new technologies that support legal operations.
- You are adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, globally connected team.
