The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking an exceptional Senior Financial Analyst to join our Treasury team. Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Finance & Transformation, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the hospital's financial stewardship and investment management. You will support all aspects of Treasury, Investment and Pension accounting and reporting, helping to ensure SickKids' financial resources are managed with integrity, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Cash & Investment Management: Support the management of Hospital cash flow and investment activities by monitoring market trends and providing recommendations for optimizing financial resources.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Work closely with the Hospital's banking partners and investment managers to explore investment opportunities, and the ability to improve reporting, cash management, and the efficient processing of payments & transfers.
  • Fund Accounting: Execution of accounting functions related to the investments of the SickKids Pension Plan & Trust Funds, including review of investment custodial statements and preparation of journal entries in PeopleSoft.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analyses for Treasury operations. Prepare account reconciliations and provide relevant support during the annual audit.
  • Investment Reporting: Monthly monitoring of investment returns and preparation of quarterly investment performance reports for presentation at Investment & Pensions Committee (subcommittee of the SickKids Board of Trustees) meetings.
  • Process Improvements: Assist in the development and implementation of enhancements to Treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Essential

Here's What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Completion of or significant progress toward completion of professional accounting designation (i.e., CPA or equivalent);
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting;
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams;
  • Passion for process simplification and improvement, including an ability to challenge the status-quo and enact efficient process changes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information;
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

Assets

  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft;
  • Experience in healthcare or large public sector environment;
  • Familiarity with Pension Plans and the related regulatory environment;
  • Knowledge of varied investment products and services and investment performance measurement is highly desirable.
