About CoLab
At CoLab, we want to help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner.
CoLab is a cloud based platform purpose built for fast, effective design review. Using CoLab, multiple engineers, designers, and other stakeholders can review designs together and build off one another's feedback. Engineers at companies like Ford, Komatsu, and Johnson Controls use CoLab to review designs faster, prevent mistakes, and build the next generation of innovative products.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Cloud Architect to take ownership of our US-based cloud infrastructure, Commercial and Public Sector. As the secondary US-based cloud team member, you'll work directly with your manager, and serve as a critical technical lead across both our CloudOps and Platform Teams.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with deep technical scope. You'll write Terraform and Python, troubleshoot stack traces, work inside highly secured environments, and help maintain a secure, monitored, production-ready environment. You'll also play a key role in our Public Sector journey by supporting our compliance program(targeting Q1), our app running in the Public Sector and scaling the infrastructure behind it.
You'll work alongside Third Party Vendors that support our Public Sector environment and collaborate daily with internal engineers across Application Security, Platform, and CloudOps Teams.
What success looks like in your first 90 Days:
30 Days: You've passed onboarding, completed security training, contributed code and are comfortable working across both Commercial and Public Sector environments.
60 Days: You're contributing a substantial amount of code (Terraform, Python), reviewing others' work, and managing tasks in the Public Sector environment independently.
90 Days: You're self-directed, finding and solving issues proactively, and reducing dependency on peers and manager affirmations for day-to-day application support and infrastructure work.
Our Ideal Candidate
You're a senior engineer with deep hands-on cloud experience who is comfortable writing infrastructure as code, navigating complex environments, and adapting to a security-first approach. You bring technical depth and the curiosity to learn our unique systems and constraints.
You'll thrive here if you:
Must-Haves:
Location: Remote-first (US only), with flexibility around timezone alignment. Some occasional coordination with Canadian teammates.
Type: Full-time, permanent
Benefits:

- Write and maintain Terraform to support infrastructure deployments via SpaceLift

- Investigate stack traces, diagnose application issues, and contribute to monitoring improvements (especially in APM tracing via DataDog)
- Support the broader Platform Team with secure, scalable infrastructure design and implementation
- Collaborate closely with Third Party Vendors during the Public Sector implementation and assessments
- Actively contribute to internal codebases (Python + IaC) and participate in PR reviews
- Take on and eventually lead technical initiatives in Public Sector infrastructure and deployments
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years in a hands-on DevOps, Platform, or CloudOps engineering role
- Deep experience with AWS (GovCloud preferred) and strong Terraform fluency
- Proficiency with Python (especially writing Lambda functions)
- Experience with Kubernetes in production environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and secure deployment practices
- Strong debugging skills and comfortability in analyzing logs, traces, and error stacks
- US Citizenship
- Non-expired US Passport or State issued RealID Drivers License
- Experience with SpaceLift or similar Terraform orchestration tools
- Familiarity with Okta for Government, GCC High, AzureAD, or Google Cloud (GCP/Vertex AI)
- DataDog and/or Cloudflare configuration
- Experience in Public Sector or IL5 environments
- Exposure to managed dependencies and security patching workflows
- Familiarity with Cypress for automated testing
Location: Remote-first (US only), with flexibility around timezone alignment. Some occasional coordination with Canadian teammates.
Type: Full-time, permanent
Benefits:
- Extended health coverage
- Unlimited paid vacation
- Equity in a high-growth company
- 401(k) matching
