The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.
Durham Continuing Education is the Durham District School Board’s program for its adult daytime program as well as many continuing education programs. While the core business of Continuing Education is funded by the Ministry of Education, partnerships with MILTSD, IRCC, MCI and MCSS support Continuing Education programming.
Position: DURHAM CONTINUING EDUCATION - SEMESTER 1 NIGHT SCHOOL TEACHERS - Senior English, Senior Math, Senior Sciences and Humanities.
Durham Continuing Education offers credit night school courses to a variety of learners each semester. This year, Durham will be offering students the choice of a live in person environment or a synchronous online format. Student demand will determine which modality is offered for each course.
Work hours for in person delivery are from 5:45pm to 9:30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings at R.S. McLaughlin CVI in Oshawa. Classes run from 6:00pm to 9:15pm on those nights. The online synchronous delivery model will follow the same hours and can be delivered from a flexible location . You will be required to deliver the Ontario Curriculum for the assigned course(s), if you are the successful candidate.
Qualifications/Experience
OCT qualified teachers in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers with any of the following senior qualifications; (English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities)
~ Experience teaching any of the above disciplines in Durham Region
~ Experience working with adults is an asset
~ Excellent technology skills, experience using a variety of formats including Google classroom and Suites and D2L.
