Bayshore Healthcare is looking for a Privacy & Health Information Specialist to join our Privacy and Health Information Management team as part of the CQ HIP Portfolio on a 6-month remote contract.

What You’ll Do?

  • Ensure compliance with federal/provincial privacy legislation and contractual agreements.
  • Lead and support privacy incident investigations, breach protocols, and mandatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote privacy awareness and best practices.
  • Conduct privacy risk assessments and internal audits.
  • Support health information management activities including record tracking, retention, and lawful disclosures.
  • Works with and supports personnel who are involved in the disclosure of personal information to ensure the organizations’ policies and procedures comply with privacy laws.
  • Stays up to date on proposed and amended privacy legislations (federal/provincial) and communicates accordingly with all key business/stakeholders .

Who You Are?

  • Certified privacy and/or health information management (CHIM, CIPP/C, CIPM)
  • Experienced in privacy legislation, incident management, and project execution.
  • A self-starter with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Passionate about privacy and eager to stay engaged across diverse initiatives.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School with Professional Designation in Health Administration, Health Information Management, Privacy
  • Privacy and/or Health Information Management certification (CHIM, CIPP/C, CIPM, HIM)

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in privacy industry
  • General understanding of Home care and community care services is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in privacy legislations, CASL (Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation) and access, release of information across Canada
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in incident management/investigations
  • Knowledge and experience in project management

  • Travel to branch locations throughout Canada as required.
  • French is an asset but not a must.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Privacy and Health Information Specialist must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by regulating bodies, as well as agreed upon specific goals and objectives. All duties and responsibilities of this position will be performed with consideration to client safety and well-being.
