How You Will Contribute
- Reporting to Senior Director of SAOS 10.x PLM, Collaborate on the creation of IP Software Roadmap which underpins the Ciena Routing & Switching Portfolio.
- Facilitate PLM and R&D agreement on IP product development direction and priorities.
- Act has subject matter expert with key IP customer decision makers (at multiple levels – working and leadership).
- Lead overall technical direction for key customer accounts
- Provide thought leadership in the industry via interactions in conferences and papers
- Participate and drive PLM-related SAOS 10.x Release Management activities on a per release basis.
- Minimum BS in engineering (with telecommunications, networking or communications systems concentration) – or equivalent experience
- MBA desired
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience within the IP Routing domain with a successful and progressive track record of accomplishment, leadership and increasing responsibility, including at least 5 years of significant product line management (or equivalent) experience
- Strong product background in carrier grade IP routing is a must, namely:
- IP Routing/Switching, (ISIS, OSPF, BGP, Multicast)
- Transport Underlay: MPLS (RSVP, LDP, TP, LU) & Segment Routing (SR-MPLS/SRv6)
- Services Overlay: L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN
- Expertise in complementary technologies, e.g.;
- Software Defined Networking (SDN), including nodal interactions, PCE
- Traffic Engineering & Optimization including Multi-Layer Optimizations
- Nodal Management: SNMP, NETCONF, YANG, Telemetry & associated
- Synchronization, TDM
- Experience with various network architecture models (Access/Aggregation/MBH/Core IP Routing)
- Candidate should be comfortable/familiar with relevant industry standards (IETF, IEEE, ITU, MEF)
- Proven experience of driving new product introduction into customer accounts, including pre-sales engagements, strategy.
- Experience leading complex work efforts and projects
- Lead overall PLM effort for delivering large packet networking products
- IPT PLM owner for product Release Management functions.
- Provides architectural guidance to R&D on packet/optical solutions to guide projects to align with customer requirement roadmaps and company business direction
- Seasoned interpersonal skills with a proven ability to achieve results through alignment of cross-functional and multi-divisional activities in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, and fast-paced environment
- Extraordinary communications and presentation skills (customers and internal constituents)
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers and other functional organizations
