To support this growth, we are seeking a dedicated HR Specialist - Employee Relations to handle our day-to-day employee relations functions. This role is crucial in ensuring a fair, respectful, and legally compliant workplace across all our operational states, particularly within the healthcare industry.
What You'll Do
- Manage Employee Relations Cases: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, policy violations and employee separations. You will conduct thorough and impartial investigations from intake to resolution, ensuring all parties are treated with respect and fairness.
- Ensure Multi-State Compliance: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of federal and state employment laws across all 50 states, with a focus on regulations specific to the healthcare sector, such as HIPAA. You'll ensure our HR policies and practices are compliant and up-to-date, mitigating risk for the organization.
- Support & Coach Leaders: Partner with managers to provide guidance on difficult conversations, performance improvement plans, and corrective actions. You will help build their confidence and skills in handling employee issues proactively and with care.
- Policy & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve existing employee relations policies and processes. You'll assist in creating and updating resources, toolkits, and training materials to help leaders and employees navigate workplace issues, with a special emphasis on healthcare-specific scenarios.
- Maintain Records & Data: Accurately document all case details and maintain confidential records. You'll use this data to identify trends, create reports, and provide insights to HR leadership, helping to inform strategic decisions.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on employee relations in the healthcare industry, ideally in a multi-state or national capacity.
- Subject Matter Expert: You have a solid understanding of federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and Title VII, as well as healthcare-specific regulations like HIPAA and patient privacy considerations.
- Problem-Solver: You possess strong judgment and discretion, with a proven ability to handle complex and sensitive issues with a calm, empathetic, and objective approach.
- Skilled Communicator: Your written and verbal communication skills are excellent, allowing you to build trust with employees and leaders at all levels. You can navigate difficult conversations with clarity and professionalism.
- Detail-Oriented: You have a meticulous eye for detail and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Confidentiality: You handle all information with the highest level of professionalism and discretion, especially Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Tech Savvy: You're proficient with HRIS and case management systems and can use data to drive decisions and tell a story.
