Ever is the next-generation automotive retail company. We are building the first full-stack AI automotive dealership to redefine the car shopping experience – starting with building the best way to buy and sell electric vehicles.

Since our founding in 2022, we have raised +$15M in Seed funding from leading institutional investors, built our omnichannel retail business from scratch, and developed cutting edge internal software to support long-term scalability.

As a tight-knit and ambitious early-stage team, we are looking to onboard world-class operators and builders to key roles. We have brought together talent from diverse backgrounds in building Ever, including finance and consulting (BCG, J.P. Morgan), engineering (Uber, Shopify, Lyft, Flexport), automotive retail (Penske, Lithia, TrueCar, Autonation), and many others. We hope you'll join us!

What You'll Do:

You'll join Ever as our first Finance & Accounting hire, owning the closing process, managing daily accounting operations, and building the systems, processes, and controls that will scale with us. This is a pivotal, high-impact role where you'll work directly with the co-founders and leadership across the company to professionalize and grow our Finance & Accounting functions.

• Own closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements (with support from external bookkeeping team)
• Manage AP, AR, payroll, and cash flow tracking
• Set up, maintain, and improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Oversee accounting systems and integrations
• Partner with co-founder team + cross-functional leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Spearhead lender reporting, select board reporting, and external audits/tax filings
• Take on wide-ranging responsibilities across finance and accounting, as needs evolve
• Build and lead the Finance & Accounting teams over time, with opportunities for role advancement along the way
  
  

Qualifications & Fit:

• CPA (active or inactive) with strong GAAP knowledge
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and in-house leadership at a high-growth start-up or small company
• Demonstrated experience or ambition to lead the transition to more sophisticated accounting systems as the business grows
• Comfort with being hands-on to start — acting as a player-coach, diving into the details as needed while taking high-level leadership of Finance & Accounting
• Proven ability to design and implement accounting processes and controls from scratch
• Deep desire to work in a fast-paced, scrappy, mission-driven environment
• Bonus points: Experience in retail, automotive, or an inventory-driven space
• Bonus points: Passion for EVs, climate, and/or broader automotive space
  
  

Location:

Flexible on location, with preference for in-office/hybrid in San Francisco, CA.
