GMB is currently seeking a Web Developer to join our Marketing Agency team. Our ideal candidate is humble and confident with a passion for the educational ecosystem, and at least five (5) years of relevant skills and experience. The purpose of this role is to develop, build, and maintain engaging, accessible, and high-performing websites for colleges, universities, and other education-focused organizations. This role will play a key part in bringing creative designs and strategic initiatives to life, ensuring our clients have reliable, accessible, and impactful digital experiences.

As a Web Developer With GMB You Will

• Develop, maintain, and enhance websites primarily in WordPress (Block Themes, ACF, custom themes, plugins, custom integrations, APIs)
• Collaborate with designers, strategists, and project managers to translate wireframes and creative concepts into functional, user-friendly websites
• Ensure websites meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and are optimized for performance, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility
• Implement integrations with CRMs, analytics platforms, marketing automation tools, and other third-party systems
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve website issues.
• Manage version control and code repositories (Git)
• Document code, workflows, and technical specifications for ongoing support and scalability.
• Stay current on emerging web technologies and recommend process or tool improvements
  
  

What type of knowledge do I need to succeed in this role?

More than a specific degree and exact number of years of experience, we're most excited about what kind of knowledge you bring. For this role, we are seeking someone who can fully own projects in their area of expertise and take initiative through identifying gaps and opportunities.

Some components that may help indicate you are at this knowledge milestone include more tangible items like:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of professional web development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript, React, Bootstrap, and PHP.
• Experience developing in WordPress (parent/child themes, plugin creation, customization, Gutenberg/Block Themes, patterns, WP REST API).
• Understanding of MySQL databases and database-driven applications, server environments, and basic DevOps.
• Familiarity with responsive and mobile-first design principles.
• Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and SEO best practices.
• Proficiency in Git or other version control systems.
• Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
• Problem solving to diagnose and fix technical challenges independently.
• Collaboration with strategists, designers, contractors, freelancers, and project leads.
• Ability to self-manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  
  

What might set you apart from other candidates?

• Experience with other CMS platforms (Drupal, Joomla, Craft).
• Experience with API development and integrations
• Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular).
• Familiarity with marketing automation tools and technologies (HubSpot, Slate, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, GA4, etc.)
• Understanding of UX/UI principles and design tools (Adobe XD, Figma).
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Eye for detail and a passion for creating clean, well-structured code, that creates efficiency in the workplace
• A passion for creating new innovative solutions to repeat problems or opportunities
• Contributions to the WordPress community (plugins, themes, open-source projects)
