Writer for Animated YouTube Channel

Bumpy is a cartoon YouTube channel with over 500,000 subscribers. We tell fun, high-energy stories for a digital audience, using AI to help us create animations faster and more efficiently than traditional 2D animation allows.

We’re looking for a talented Writer to join our creative team and help us craft compelling, binge-worthy stories. This is your chance to shape original episodes that keep viewers hooked from start to finish.

This is a fully remote, contract position with an hourly rate of $25–$30 CAD, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Write engaging, story-driven scripts for self-contained episodes (~15 minutes each).
• Collaborate with the creative team to develop plotlines, characters, and dialogue that resonate with YouTube audiences.
• Adapt stories to fit the pacing and style of our AI-assisted animation workflow.
• Incorporate feedback to refine scripts for clarity, humor, and emotional impact.
• Maintain consistency in tone, world-building, and character voices.

Requirements

• Proven experience writing for new media formats (YouTube, TikTok, or similar).
• Strong grasp of story structure, comedic timing, and character development.
• Ability to write concise, engaging dialogue suited to fast-paced animation.
• Understanding of what keeps online audiences engaged.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to feedback quickly.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience writing for animated series or short-form storytelling.
• Familiarity with YouTube trends, storytelling hooks, and retention strategies.
• Passion for animation, internet culture, and creating content that’s shareable.
