Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and resilient Sr HR Generalist with strong experience in employee relations and compliance (ADA, FMLA, etc.) to support our dedicated teams providing care in correctional facilities.

In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted HR partner to our operators and site leaders, managing complex employee relations issues, guiding compliance efforts, and enhancing the employee experience throughout the lifecycle. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes unstructured environment and ready to support frontline teams with empathy, urgency, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Employee Relations:

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters across multiple sites, including investigations into misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and performance issues.
  • Proactively address and resolve potential employee relations issues before they escalate.
  • Identify and mitigate risk through proactive ER strategies and coaching for frontline managers.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and recommend improvements to reduce turnover and enhance employee engagement.
  • Functions as a key participant in onboarding and offboarding sites.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Partner closely with Health Services Administrators, Regional Vice Presidents, and site leadership to provide HR guidance aligned with operational goals.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to provide comprehensive HR support.
  • Partner with the talent acquisition and employee experience teams to ensure a seamless recruitment and onboarding process.

Onboarding And Employee Experience

  • Collaborate in the onboarding process to ensure new hires have a smooth and positive start.
  • Participates in the regular employee check-ins and assists in the gathering of feedback from employees.
  • Implement strategies to improve the employee lifecycle with an emphasis on retention.

HR Processes and Employee Action Forms

  • Process Employee Action Forms (EAFs) including new hires, promotions, terminations, status changes, and other employment-related transactions accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all EAFs are properly documented, approved, and compliant with internal policy and recordkeeping standards.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, HRIS, and other HR stakeholders to ensure data integrity and workflow alignment.

Data Management And Reporting

  • Compile, analyze, and present data related to retention and other HR metrics.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and initiatives.

Compliance And Legal Matters

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Prevent legal matters from escalating by addressing issues promptly and effectively.
  • Assesses and responds to personnel issues including employee misconduct, harassment, and discrimination investigations.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, investigations, and labor law compliance.
  • Solid knowledge of ADA, FMLA, EEO, and other federal/state employment regulations.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or 24/7 operational environments, preferably in healthcare or corrections.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and empathy.
  • Ability to pivot quickly, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationwide as required.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office tools including Excel.
