The Opportunity

Corus is seeking to add a mid-level transactional corporate lawyer to its exceptional team. At Corus, you will be part of a dynamic organization and will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to support our exciting future, collaborating with senior leaders across the business to execute on growth opportunities. Reporting to the VP, General Counsel, this position will provide strategic legal advice across all areas of the business, including M&A, structuring, governance, commercial leasing, employment and general corporate and commercial matters. Due to rapid growth, the Corporate Counsel will have significant scope to define their own role. This is a permanent, full-time role with remote/in-office/hybrid flexibility. Some time in the Toronto office will be required.

What You Will Love Doing

  • Acting as a strategic partner working with our executive team, other senior leaders, and our network of practices and external partners
  • Advising on a high volume of cross-border private M&A and corporate finance transactions
  • Advising in respect of corporate, shareholder and board matters
  • Providing advice on a range of employment matters and the development of corporate policies and procedures
  • Negotiating and drafting commercial lease agreements and various commercial arrangements
  • Staying up to date with applicable regulations and industry standards, including dental college compliance and patient privacy matters, both in Canada and the United States
  • Liaising with and instructing external counsel as necessary
  • Collaborating with the General Counsel in the development of strategic legal projects


All About You:

  • Ambitious self-starter with a collaborative and adaptable mindset
  • Skilled at balancing legal considerations with commercial priorities
  • Naturally connects with others and builds strong, trusted relationships
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Licensed to practice law in Canada
  • Admission to practice in a US jurisdiction would be an asset
  • 4–7 years of broad corporate law experience, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, gained at a leading law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department
  • Proven experience in drafting and managing complex transactions
  • Strong business acumen and a track record of fostering internal and external partnerships
