About Advocate

At Advocate, our mission is to empower Americans to obtain the government support they've earned. Advocate aims to reduce long wait times and bureaucratic obstacles of the current government benefits application process by developing a unified intake system for the Social Security Administration, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, crossed with the knowledge and experience of our small team of EDPNA’s and case managers.

We are expanding our work with Long Term Disability (LTD) carriers and are seeking an experienced LTD Claims Manager to lead this line of business from the ground up. As the LTD Claims Manager, you will own and grow our LTD line of business. You’ll bring deep subject matter expertise in LTD and SSDI claims, paired with a roll-up-your-sleeves operational mindset. You’ll help us build the systems, processes, and relationships needed to support LTD claimants through their SSDI journey, and ensure seamless collaboration with carrier partners.

You will also ensure the success of our growing group of LTD claimants. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in early-stage operational roles—designing the playbook, running the process hands-on, and ultimately laying the foundation for future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Program Ownership & Execution
  • Own the day-to-day operations of Advocate’s LTD-to-SSDI claim process, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery
  • Design and implement scalable workflows to manage LTD referrals and extract claimant data from LTD carrier systems
  • Build tools and reports (e.g., weekly dashboards) to track key performance metrics across the funnel
  • LTD & SSDI Expertise
  • Serve as an internal expert on LTD policies, claim offsets, SSDI eligibility criteria, and claim timing for LTD recipients
  • Ensure compliance with both LTD and SSDI program requirements as you design systems and workflows
  • Carrier & Stakeholder CommunicationMaintain strong, responsive communication with LTD claim managers and carrier contacts
  • Generate and share weekly progress reports and updates with partner stakeholders
  • Represent Advocate with professionalism and credibility in all external communications
  • Strategic Growth
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the LTD pipeline—from referral to award—and propose data-informed improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, intake) to improve claimant experiences
  • (Nice to have) Contribute to business development efforts by helping expand relationships with additional LTD carriers

Who You Are

  • Experienced. You’ve worked in or closely with LTD carriers, SSDI vendors, or legal/advocacy firms and have 3+ years managing LTD and/or SSDI operations
  • Knowledgeable. You understand the LTD-to-SSDI pipeline, including offsets, timelines, and what’s required for LTD claimants to apply
  • Builder and Doer. You are comfortable designing systems from scratch and then executing hands-on until it’s time to scale or delegate
  • Detail-Oriented. You know how to manage a pipeline, run reports, triage leads, and communicate updates in a timely, structured way
  • Mission-Driven. You care about helping people access benefits and improving systems that weren’t built with claimants in mind

Nice to Have

  • Existing relationships with LTD carriers or vendors
  • Experience working in an early-stage startup or new program launch environment
  • Experience working with Salesforce, Snowflake, or similar CRMs and data tools

Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.

Health, dental, and vision insurance.

401(k).

Generous PTO and remote-first work environment.
