About The Project
ProviderSoft is seeking a highly motivated Market Research Intern to complete a strategic analysis of our Total Addressable Market (TAM) for Early Intervention (EI) software. You’ll build upon an existing state-by-state framework developed by our team and take it across the finish line synthesizing public and private data into a clear picture of the national opportunity. You’ll gather and validate market data, contact EI agencies directly, and help build a national map of opportunity. You’ll collaborate closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing and have clear deliverables tied to real business impact.Time permitting, you will also model Serviceable Available Market (SAM) and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) to support go-to-market prioritization and investor-level planning.
Scope of Work
Total Addressable Market (TAM) represents the full revenue opportunity available to ProviderSoft if we achieved 100% market share in our ideal customer segment—in this case, Early Intervention (EI) agencies and programs across the United States. TAM helps us understand the maximum potential of our market before factoring in product fit, competition, or resource limitations.
How You Will Acquire And Develop TAM Data

About The Project

Scope of Work
- Finalize and enhance existing state-by-state market research
- Create a quantified TAM model with documented assumptions
- Identify and model SAM (realistic near-term target market based on product fit, billing model, and regulatory structure)
- Estimate SOM (based on sales team capacity, known win rates, and active market focus)
- Develop charts and visuals for use in board decks, sales materials, and strategic planning
- Conduct additional research on Early Intervention agency budgets, payer models, and volume metrics
- Refine and validate population estimates and agency counts per state
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing to define scoring and segmentation logic
- Organize all findings into a central data file (Excel, Google Sheets, or Airtable)
- Prepare a final slide deck with insights, visuals, and recommendations
- TAM Workbook – complete file with population, funding, and agency estimates per state, tiered scoring, and documented sources
- TAM → SAM → SOM Model – realistic breakdowns using ProviderSoft fit, reach, and market size assumptions
- Presentation Deck – summary slides with visual insights for internal/external use
- Handoff Package – clean, organized source files, data notes, and documentation
- Pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or Public Policy
- Skilled in market research and data modeling
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
- Comfortable working with Excel/Sheets and summarizing findings visually
- Bonus: experience with government, education, or health services markets
- End-to-end ownership of a high-impact strategic marketing initiative
- Insight into go-to-market strategy for SaaS in a niche sector
- Mentorship from senior marketing and sales leaders
- Portfolio-ready deliverables and a strong letter of recommendation (based on performance)

- Identify the number of EI agencies or managing entities per state
- Estimate number of children served or eligible using population data and penetration rates
- Research billing structures and funding mechanisms (e.g., Medicaid, insurance)
- Approximate average spend per agency or child to quantify revenue potential or funding per child
- Score and tier states based on addressability and fit for ProviderSoft
