Enterprise Security Architect
The Security team’s mission is to strengthen Okta’s position as the leading Identity-as-a- Service solution through identifying and resolving risks to the employees, product, and most importantly, our customers. With the ever-increasing pace of cloud application adoption, companies are struggling to find ways to accurately assess risk and act at the speed of their business.
The Enterprise Security Architect role guides and defines the overarching technical security strategies and partners across multiple functions as a trusted leader to support and ensure the secure development of architecture solutions and technology strategy.
The Enterprise Security Architect actively collaborates with Okta’s technology leaders to develop and drive security strategies across Okta. The position is a crucial role in ensuring that Okta’s systems and services meet the highest security standards and align with our customers’ requirements. This position requires deep expertise in embedding security across the software development lifecycle in modern SaaS environments, enterprise security, and enabling the rapid and safe adoption of artificial intelligence. The Enterprise Security Architect will conduct, or assist with conducting, designing, planning, implementing and operationalization of infrastructure, applications, and systems, including selection and deployment of cybersecurity technologies. This position requires an astute collaborator, who thrives working with multiple stakeholders and can align cross-functional teams in security decisions making and solutions.
This position may be located anywhere in the USA or Canada.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:
$214,000—$322,000 CAD

What You'll Achieve
- Drive Security Strategy & Vision: Define and lead the target-state security architecture for Okta's products, infrastructure, and corporate environments, ensuring the overall security strategy is aligned with business objectives and effectively communicated to leadership.
- Architect & Engineer Secure Solutions: Design secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions that incorporate security best practices from the outset. You will lead the selection and implementation of cybersecurity technologies to protect our applications, systems, and infrastructure.
- Pioneer Secure AI Adoption: Advocate for enabling the safe and rapid integration of artificial intelligence, developing the architectural patterns and controls necessary to leverage AI securely.
- Lead Threat Modeling & Risk Assessment: Drive threat modeling initiatives and risk assessments across the product lifecycle, identifying potential attack vectors and designing effective security mitigations.
- Architect for Compliance: Lead architectural efforts to achieve and maintain FedRAMP compliance, ensuring Okta’s solutions meet the rigorous security requirements of the federal government.
- Innovate and Research: Research emerging security technologies, services, and controls to continuously mature the security of the Okta enterprise and its products.
Core Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in information security with a focus on security architecture, cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and enterprise security.
- Proven experience embedding security across the software development lifecycle in modern, large-scale SaaS environments.
- Proficiency in security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and PCI, with a strong understanding of FedRAMP requirements.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align multiple stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Master's degree in a related field
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desired
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and DLP
- A growth mindset with a strong analytical ability and a passion for continuous learning and improvement
