About Proof

Proof is a high-growth company transforming how law firms operate—bringing automation, transparency, and performance to an industry long overdue for change. Our platform powers thousands of firms with complex workflows, distributed systems, and real-time infrastructure. We move fast, solve hard problems, and value engineers who take pride in doing things right.

We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with full-stack depth to lead a sharp, mission-driven team. You'll build, mentor, and ship—bringing both deep technical judgment and get-it-done energy.

What You'll Do

You'll operate as a player-coach: leading a team of strong engineers, while contributing technically across system architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and product-critical features.

  • Lead a team of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers
  • Write and review high-quality code—primarily in Go, React and TypeScript
  • Own system design and technical decisions that scale across products and teams
  • Drive engineering excellence: strong testing, clean abstractions, fast iteration, tight observability
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional leads to scope and ship well-architected solutions
  • Help scale our engineering organization: hiring, coaching, leveling, and inspiring
  • Navigate ambiguity with clarity, and bring momentum to complex or high-stakes initiatives
  • Raise the bar—not just for your team, but for Proof as a whole

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional software experience, including 2+ years leading engineers
  • Strong backend experience (Go preferred, but not required) and comfort working full-stack
  • Proven record of delivering complex systems end-to-end
  • Experience scaling web applications, optimizing performance, and managing technical debt
  • High standards for code quality, testing, and developer experience
  • You care about product outcomes, not just shipping features
  • You lead with context, clarity, and conviction—and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves

Bonus Points

  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced startups
  • Familiarity with tools like GraphQL, Playwright, Storybook, CI/CD pipelines
  • Built and maintained design systems or internal component libraries
  • Background in regulated environments (legal, healthcare, fintech)
  • Obsessed with observability, reliability, or performance

Perks & Benefits

  • Remote-first: work anywhere in Canada
  • Competitive salary: $160,000–$195,000 CAD
  • Flexible vacation + time-off
  • Company-issued equipment
