The Role
OpenTeams is looking for a detail-oriented and self-driven remote full-time Staff Accountant to support our expanding finance operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves building processes, and is excited to be part of a scaling tech company.
You will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, assisting with month-end close, reconciling accounts, and supporting internal process improvements. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and product teams to ensure financial accuracy and support strategic decisions. OpenTeams is based in Austin, Texas. Applicants should reside in the United States and be able to collaborate with co-workers in the US central time zone.

Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable
- Support compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and financial policies
- Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements
- Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation for all financial transactions
- Help implement and improve accounting systems and workflows as the company scales
- Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement, expense reporting, and billing processes
- Contribute to the development of scalable processes and automation initiatives
- Collaborate with the team on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement in everything you do
- 2–4 years of accounting experience (startup or tech industry preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong understanding of accounting best practices
- Experience with accounting software, QuickBooks Online preferred
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets – pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.
- Experience with ADP
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Eager to learn, take initiative, and work in a collaborative team environment
