Job Summary

We’re seeking a highly detail-oriented Distribution & Copyright Specialist to support our copyright enforcement and digital music distribution efforts. This role is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing copyright claims, handling DMCA takedowns, monitoring split rights, and supporting daily distribution operations. The ideal candidate has working knowledge of U.S. copyright law, experience using CMS/reporting tools on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with legal, client relations, and distribution teams to protect client content, ensure timely releases, and maintain accurate records across our back catalog.

Responsibilities

Copyright Claiming Tasks:

  • Review incoming copyright claims from DSPs, other distributors, and labels
  • Submit outgoing copyright claims on DSPs as well as send DMCA.
  • Communicate with internal teams and clients regarding disputes, takedowns, or claim issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of claims, disputes, and resolutions.
  • Draft and submit DMCA takedown notices for infringing content across platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, SoundCloud, TikTok, and others.
  • Track and follow up on submitted takedowns, counter-notices, and platform responses.
  • Research and identify unauthorized uses of client content through manual and automated methods.
  • Maintain logs of enforcement activity and produce summary reports as needed.
  • Communicate with platforms and infringing parties to resolve disputes or escalate when necessary.
  • Coordinate with internal legal and client relations teams regarding high-priority cases or repeat infringements.

Distribution Tasks

  • Support the ingestion and scheduling of music releases across DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).
  • Assist in metadata entry, quality control, and asset management (audio, artwork, etc.).
  • Coordinate and track delivery timelines to ensure timely release of content.
  • Assist with catalog onboarding: uploading metadata, organizing assets, and ensuring correct formatting.
  • Monitor release deliveries to DSPs and flag any ingestion or delivery issues.
  • Support the distribution team with general administrative tasks (e.g., data entry, calendar scheduling, file organization).

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in copyright enforcement, DMCA processing, legal compliance, or digital music rights (internships acceptable).
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Copyright Law and DMCA process.
  • Experience using CMS or reporting tools across major platforms (YouTube, Meta, SoundCloud, TikTok).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital music distribution processes is a plus.

Pay Scale

  • $19.00-24.00 / per hour
  • The final compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
