'Air Quality Suite Evergreening' - The goal of the Air Quality suite evergreening initiative is to upgrade the full technical stack for Ontario's Mission Critical Air Quality I&IT solutions. The current suite is built with Oracle database, APEX/ORDS, and Red Hat Linux OS software which are all at end-of-life support with the manufacturer.

To stay secure and compliant with Ontario's Digital and Data Strategy, the systems software and hardware technical components must be upgraded - A process known as Evergreening.

Cloud hosting is targeted as part of this evergreening.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in assessing and documenting the 'as is' status of solution architecture and provides technical leadership of software component upgrades from end of life to fully supported versions of software in the tech stack as well as technical delivery of the 'to be' solution architecture in cloud. Plan any necessary changes for cloud migration or cloud use. Monitors and tracks details of technical delivery to ensure solution maintains integrity, reliability.
• Undertakes the design of hosting technology solutions based on the existing service specifications, standards, policies, best practices and cost models, in order to meet client application business requirement and project/initiative deliverables.
  
  

General Skills

• Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, mainframe, midrange server, enterprise storage and SAN, and personal computer system technologies.
• Knowledge of related best practices, OPS directory/messaging standards, standard facilities infrastructure/architecture management, facility service delivery processes, infrastructures policies, procedures and direction, cost models and procurement processes.
• Ability to facilitate technical sessions, track activities on Kanban boards (DEVOps) gather requirements; incorporate corporate I&IT information mandates, client information technology strategic plans, environment and standards.
• Ability to lead 'evergreening' design of solutions and provide advice on short/long term solution service development activities.
• Knowledge of leading edge technologies design criteria, security and recovery procedures, preparation of technical specifications for installation, testing and performance of integrated, multi-services systems; assess performance and capacity of existing system making recommendations for improving performance and develop technical documentation.
• Experience planning, migrating, implementing and sustaining large complex system development projects.
• Experience with migration of legacy solutions to cloud (Azure).
• Knowledge of technology developments, trends and new products to evaluated application to client short and long term technology requirements.
• Basic knowledge of project management methodology (e.g. PMBOK), analytical tools and processes.
• Conceptual and analytical skills to assess and evaluate client needs and conduct cost/benefit analyses for new technology requirements in planning and designing solutions.
• Experience designing and developing large, complex, highly available, mission critical server applications.
• Experience with systems evaluation to assess conditions, technical performance and capacity of existing systems and determine need and feasibility of expansion, renovation or replacement.

Evergreening and Cloud Migration Experience - 50%

• Experience assessing 'as is' legacy solution architecture and producing 'to be' cloud ready design with supported software components
• Experience developing\implementing enterprise cloud migration strategies utilizing Microsoft Azure.
• Experience and knowledge of enterprise security requirements.
• Experience applying government IT standards (either OPS Standards or other federal and\or provincial equivalents).
• Experience with creating cloud migration strategies, defining delivery architecture, creating the migration architecture, designing the orchestration plans, etc.
• Experience in creating and executing migration run books
• Experience to provide support to ensure that the appropriate level of change management is measured and evaluated
• Experience planning and guiding an organization in the various stages of using or migrating to cloud services
• Experience scrutinizing existing client environments & recommend solutions that enable a to-be cloud vision
• Experience assisting with sound practices in cloud brokerage and technical application management
• Supporting the crafting of cloud strategies using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS with the ability to analyze and synthesize analysis of alternatives
• Conducting financial and ROI analysis of infrastructure, operations, and management costs
• Acting as Cloud SME in the implementation of large, medium, and small cloud projects
• Providing hands-on support of mission areas in the rationalization and cloud readiness assessment of existing applications
