Biology Homework Lab Tutor

Pay: $30–$35/hour

Location: Remote (Zoom-based)

Schedule: Mondays–Thursdays, 3:30 PM–9:00 PM CST

Max Students Per Session: 15

About The Role

SiSTEM is looking for a responsive and knowledgeable Biology Homework Lab Tutor to support high school students in live, drop-in virtual sessions. These students arrive with specific questions about their coursework, and your role is to provide clear explanations, guide them through tough topics, and strengthen their understanding in real time.

You’ll manage small-group sessions of up to 15 students in an engaging and supportive virtual environment. Sessions are informal but structured, built around student needs and real classroom content.

Topics You’ll Commonly Support

• Cell biology: Organelles, cell transport, mitosis/meiosis, DNA structure and replication.
• Genetics & Heredity: Punnett squares, Mendelian vs. non-Mendelian traits.
• Human Biology: Organ systems, homeostasis, anatomy & physiology basics.
• Ecology & Evolution: Ecosystems, food chains/webs, adaptation, classification, natural selection.
  
  

You’re a Strong Fit If You

• Have 2+ years of experience teaching or tutoring high school biology.
• Can confidently explain complex science topics in ways students can actually understand.
• Are skilled at supporting a diverse group of up to 15 students in a virtual drop-in model.
• Know how to engage students who may be shy, confused, or behind.
• Are familiar with NGSS, TEKS or state biology curriculum standards.
