What You'll Do
SW Enablement team's mission is to empower Viasat Software Engineering to optimize around productivity, efficiency, and quality while ensuring the developer experience to be one of ease and flow. We help provide visibility and insights into software development lifecycle friction points and help teams measure success of new features by creating feedback loops in the design, development and deployment process.
As a Head Agile Coach, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of Agile practices and improving and managing the software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes within the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of products, as well as continuous improvement in Agile methodologies. Additionally, you will be involved with change management, adoption, and execution support for SW Enablement initiatives across the company. These include DX rollout and adoption, Jira Cloud Migration, Jira Standardization to name a few.

The day-to-day
- Lead Agile transformation: Drive the implementation of Agile practices within the organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Identify opportunities for improvement and work to optimize the Agile process.
- Develop and oversee software development lifecycle processes: Develop, implement, and maintain effective software development processes that enhance team productivity and quality of deliverables,.
- Implement metrics and measurements: Develop and implement metrics and measurements to monitor and improve the effectiveness of software development processes. Support the gathering of metrics consistently by all teams, integrating data from existing systems into a cohesive dashboard for visibility by Team managers and leadership.
- Manage regulatory compliance: Ensure that all software development processes adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Coach and mentor managers and team members: Work with managers and team members to provide guidance on best practices, improve team communication, and facilitate a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop and deliver Agile training: Develop and deliver Agile training programs in collaboration with HR and other relevant teams.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies where applicable: Ensure that Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospective) are effectively facilitated, with all team members fully engaged. This engagement at the team level can be through embedded Scrum Masters or through training of existing Agile coaches.
- Continuous improvement: Identify process gaps and bottlenecks and develop strategies to continuously improve Agile practices. Create reports that highlight progress and/or concerns to include data from software development processes and improvement initiatives
- Proven experience in Agile coaching and leadership roles within a software development environment
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc and hands-on experience implementing Agile practices at scale.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as AS9100 and experience managing compliance within Agile and Software Development Lifecycle processes.
- Experience in change management and process improvement, with a proven track record of building high-performance teams.
- Up to 10-20% travel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence, inspire, and lead change.
- Experience working with enterprise-scale Agile frameworks such as SAFe.
- Advance understanding of DevOps principles and integration with Agile practices
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance measurement tools to track Agile adoption and team productivity
- Background in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
