The Role
We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented NCLEX Item Writers with a strong background in nursing education to develop high-quality, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) items. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity ideal for professionals currently engaged in academic nursing who are passionate about contributing to the success of future nurses.
Responsibilities
This is a remote position.
- Role Type: Contract (1099)
- Role Length: Ongoing (Year-Round)
- Location: Remote (Eastern & Central Time Zones Preferred)
- Hours Per Week: Est. 5-10 hours per week (Minimum of 5 NGN items written per week)
- Compensation: $50 per NGN item (Written); $100 per 10 NGN questions (Reviewed); NGN Case Study $100/each

The Role
We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented NCLEX Item Writers with a strong background in nursing education to develop high-quality, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) items. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity ideal for professionals currently engaged in academic nursing who are passionate about contributing to the success of future nurses.
Responsibilities
- Develop Next Generation NCLEX-style items aligned with current NCSBN guidelines and test plan.
- Create clinical judgment case studies, bowtie items, and other innovative NGN item types.
- Ensure content is clear, accurate, evidence-based, and reflects real-world clinical scenarios.
- Revise and refine items based on feedback from the editorial and content review teams.
- Review and provide feedback on items written by other team members.
- Collaborate with other item writers, editors, and subject matter experts as needed.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Currently teaching in a nursing program (ADN, BSN, or higher).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in academic nursing education.
- Evidence of NGN items you have previously written (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Familiarity with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM).
- Previous experience with NGN NCLEX item development or test prep content creation.
- Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent; Nursing Education focus a plus
