The Role


The Category Manager plays a critical role as a Software subject matter expert across various domains such as Security, Infrastructure, Data and more, across all industries. As the main-point-of-contact to internal stakeholders and our clients, this role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Research, IT/Tech, and owning projects. This role will be a tactical, detailed-oriented position but will also support innovation on the team and will continue to look for ways to improve and modify how we manage our software listings. Ideal candidates will be organized and diligent, communicate clearly and concisely, creatively problem solve, and be flexible and adaptable.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and grow our 400+ software categories.
  • Responsible for researching and updating our software listings, maintaining relationships with our 200+ analysts and experts who cover key IT technologies and own the reporting on category health and data collection metrics.
  • Build new categories and develop category insights and recommendations for any needed feature changes or software listing additions or removals to existing categories.
  • Leverage internal and external data sources in support of building out credible representations of the software categories.
  • Work collaboratively with analysts to ensure proper call coverage and support to any member inquiries
  • Foster communication with Sales, Research and the Data Operations teams through sharing of feedback on the technology marketplace.
  • Coordinate all award launches, segmentation requests, vendor investigations or requests to refresh data for your assigned categories.


Skills

  • Ability and discipline to effectively manage a series of diverse and complex software categories with on-going re-prioritization and focus
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, compelling and concise manner in email copy, internal communications, client facing communications and across departments
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize and distill large amounts of information from data collection campaigns, and make strategic adjustments accordingly
  • Ability to strategically and systematically evaluate emerging and longer term opportunities and threats to data collection, category credibility or how we go to market
  • Always looking for opportunities to grow and learn, thinking of new innovative solutions to data collection and marketing


Education And Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in market research, product management, project management or related marketing experience with a keen interest in Technology/IT.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and technology market research.
  • Undergraduate and/or Masters degree
