About ClickHouse

Established in 2009, ClickHouse leads the industry with its open-source column-oriented database system, driven by the vision of becoming the fastest OLAP database globally. The company empowers users to generate real-time analytical reports through SQL queries, emphasizing speed in managing escalating data volumes. Enterprises globally, including Lyft, Sony, IBM, GitLab, Twilio, HubSpot, and many more, rely on ClickHouse Cloud. It is available through open-source or on AWS, GCP, Azure, and Alibaba.

About the Team

The Integrations team is the bridge between ClickHouse and the entire data ecosystem. We build and maintain the connections that make ClickHouse accessible to millions of developers and data practitioners worldwide. Our work spans from low-level database drivers to high-level data visualization plugins, ensuring that ClickHouse seamlessly integrates with the tools our users already know and love.

We're responsible for the official language clients (Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, Rust, C++), major data connectors (Kafka, dbt, Spark, Fivetran), and integrations with leading visualization platforms (Grafana, Tableau, PowerBI, Metabase).

What will you do?

As a Software Engineer specializing in data connectors and transformation frameworks, you'll be the technical owner of ClickHouse's most critical data pipeline integrations. This role sits at the intersection of high-performance database engineering and modern data orchestration, where you'll build the connectors and adapters that enable data teams to seamlessly incorporate ClickHouse into their existing workflows.

You'll own the development and maintenance of our dbt-clickhouse adapter, ensuring data analysts and engineers can leverage dbt's transformation capabilities with ClickHouse's analytical power. You'll also be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing our data ingestion connectors in JVM and golang ecosystems, enabling automated data replication from hundreds of sources into ClickHouse with enterprise-grade reliability and performance.

You're architecting the data infrastructure that enables companies to build real-time analytics platforms and modern data warehouses at scale. You'll collaborate with the commercial partners and broader data community to ensure our integrations represent best practices in the modern data stack.

About you:

  • 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on data engineering, ETL/ELT pipelines, or database integrations
  • Strong Python proficiency with experience in data-focused libraries (Pandas, SQLAlchemy) and familiarity with the Python data ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience with dbt. Ideally including custom adapter development, advanced dbt modeling patterns, or contributions to dbt packages.
  • Experience with modern data stack tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or similar ELT platforms.
  • Solid Java development skills and understanding of JVM performance tuning, and concurrent programming patterns.
  • Strong understanding of database fundamentals: SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and familiarity with OLAP/analytical databases.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively within the team and across engineering functions.
  • Passion for open-source development: actively engaging with the OSS community, advocating for users, and influencing the evolution of the core system through your contributions.

Bonus points for:

  • Familiarity with ClickHouse or similar high-performance data platforms.
  • Prior contributions to open-source projects.
  • Expertise in building sinks or source connectors for big data frameworks.
  • Golang knowledge for high-performance data processing components
