Job Description Summary
In this full time role, the Biomedical Service Technologist will properly respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, repair and perform planned maintenance (PM) while driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence. The role may also require support at other GE Biomed sites as needs arise although is primarily In-House Biomedical support at Peterborough Regional Hospital, Ontario.
The ideal candidate for this role must be able to travel to and from the USA for training at our healthcare institute. Off-hours for emergency support and On-Call customer support is required with this role.
Applicants must be legally able to reside and work in Canada at the time of application. Flexible location and hours of work may be required.

Job Description
Position Responsibilities:
- With minimal supervision, evaluate progressively complex, customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation.
- Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. Implement GE / customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.
- Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area or region. Share on-call / pager responsibility.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.
- Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.
- Comply with all required customer policies including Health and Human Services, Privacy, and Environment Health & Safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to active participation in customer committees.
- Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology / Engineering / or equivalent
- Ability to perform effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment, including but not restricted to:
- Biomedical equipment asset management system
- Infusion pumps
- Patient monitor information and database systems
- Physiological measurement devices
- Proficient computer skills including a functional knowledge of common business software such as MS Office.
- Basic Networking / IT infrastructure.
- Experience using Mechanical Tools and understanding of basic mechanical problems.
- A valid Canadian driver’s license.
- Advanced Biomedical Diploma with GE specific site Practicum Experience.
- Eligible for OR working towards, Certification by the International Certification Commission (ICC) as a CBET(c).
- Current technical training in GE products eg ECG CARTS
- OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) membership.
