Job Summary

Exciting growth opportunity to join a growing team, and gain exposure and experience on various multi-disciplinary projects focused on providing professional land surveying services.

Under the supervision and direction of the Land Survey Team Lead & Ontario Land Surveyor, the Legal Survey Drafter role includes overall support and drafting for services offered such as Surveyors Real Property Reports, Plans of Survey, Reference Plans, Subdivision Plans, Topographic surveys, and Construction Survey Services, among others.


Key Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Surveying, Geomatics, or Survey/Civil Engineering Technology (or approved equivalent) education program considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate should have a good understanding of land survey methodology and processes, and will play a key role in liaising with field survey crews, O.L.S., and others to aid in collecting, processing, and analyzing of collected survey data
  • Ability to read and interpret legal survey plans related to title search documentation, engineering design drawings, and other related documents in order to draft plans as per directions, or create pre-calculated layout files.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to provide support in maintaining & updating company records, including indexing of legal survey documents, instruments, and field notes.
  • Knowledge of geodetic surveying, coordinate systems, integrated surveys, general survey methodology, and understanding of regulations and best practices related to the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors considered an asset.
  • Experience completing survey field work, operating survey field equipment such as total stations, data collectors, digital levels, GNSS receivers, etc., considered an asset
  • Ability to interpret survey field notes
  • Experience using CAD Drafting software, and related office software (Excel, MicroSurvey, StarNet, etc.)
  • Experience using data processing software, completing computations and adjustments to raw field data is considered an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written communication, with external clients and internal team members
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks given
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
