About The Role

The Data Engineerplays a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, robust, and secure data pipelines and architectures that enable our analytics and business intelligence teams to derive actionable insights. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure our data infrastructure supports current and future needs.

This is a hybrid role, 1-2 days in the office, based in the Vancouver, BC area.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • ETL/ELT Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT processes for diverse data sources.
  • Workflow Optimization: Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in hybrid cloud (Azure/Databricks) and on-prem environments (SQL Server).
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data quality, validation, and governance frameworks to ensure high data integrity.
  • Storage Solutions Maintenance: Maintain and enhance data warehouse, data lake, and other storage solutions for performance and resilience.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Automate routine data operations and develop monitoring systems to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Tool & Technology Integration: Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to support evolving data needs and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration with Analytics Teams: Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to deliver clean, well-modeled datasets for self-service analytics and advanced modeling.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain clear documentation of data pipelines, processes, and architectural decisions.

What You Bring

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a data engineering or backend developer role.
  • SQL Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern data warehousing solutions.
  • Hybrid Data Environment: Comfortable working in a hybrid data environment, supporting both on-prem (SQL Server) and cloud-based data warehouses (Databricks).
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java for data pipeline development.
  • Orchestration & Version Control: Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Data Modeling & Distributed Computing: Solid understanding of data modeling, data lakes, and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools: Exposure to business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and enabling semantic layers is an asset.

Compensation

The Salary Range for this role is between $75,000 and $90,000, depending on experience. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. We offer a comprehensive range of benefits which includes:
