We are seeking a skilled and motivated Business Analyst (Cloud FinOps) to join our dynamic team! This role is ideal for a conclusive, analytical problem solver who flourishes with optimizing cloud infrastructure by translating business requirements into actionable insights, conducting deep data analyses, and bridging communication between technical and non-technical partners. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, a deep understanding of cloud financial management, and the ability to clearly communicate complex data-driven insights to diverse audiences.

This position reports to the VP of Transformation Management & Delivery, serving as a strategic partner in driving proactive financial governance and operational efficiency across our cloud infrastructure through our Cloud FinOps program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Spend Analysis
  • Conduct regular cloud business reviews to investigate anomalies, fulfill reporting requests, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with partners to understand infrastructure strategies across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Analyze cloud spend data to identify cost drivers, usage patterns, and inefficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide transparency into spend trends and anomalies.
  • Data Analysis and Insights:
  • Employ advanced analytical skills to assess large datasets, identify trends, and provide data-driven insights for handling and optimizing spend.
  • Work with business units to uncover opportunities for improving cost-effectiveness and efficiency in resource utilization.
  • Translate data findings into actionable recommendations for engineering, finance, and leadership teams.
  • Cost Optimization:
  • Recommend solutions and configurations that align with business goals, emphasizing cost considerations and efficiency.
  • Ensure reporting and process designs are informed by analytical insights, with a focus on optimizing overall spend and resource utilization.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Serve as a liaison between finance, engineering, procurement, and leadership teams.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise manner tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lead training and enablement efforts to educate teams on FinOps practices, tools, and cloud cost awareness.
  • Committed Use Management:
  • Analyze usage patterns and monitor commitment coverage and utilization.
  • Deliver targeted reviews to ensure commitments align with expected or known changes in usage.
  • Improve the value of cloud commitments and reduce waste.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Cloud Financial Analyst, or FinOps Practitioner with a focus on cloud spend management and financial operations.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with major cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure), including billing models, pricing structures, and commitment-based discounts (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts).
  • Familiarity with FinOps tools and platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability,AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, etc).
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or willingness to obtain the certification within the first 6 months.
  • Ability to monitor and run committed use coverage and utilization, and align commitments with forecasted usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of financial accountability and cloud cost awareness.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in analyzing cloud usage and spend data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Proficient in using reporting tools for data visualization and presentation.
  • Experience with SQL and Excel for data manipulation; familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
  • Superb communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong customer engagement and training facilitation skills to support enablement and FinOps education initiatives.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage requirements gathering, documentation, and prioritization in multi-functional environments.
  • Superb attention to detail, ensuring precision in data analysis.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $85,000.00 - 110,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
