Job Description

First Stop Health is seeking a fully remote National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (1099 Contractor) with a strong foundation in a holistic approach to lifestyle medicine and mental health. As a Health Coach, you will work directly with participants to address everyday health and mental well-being challenges through high-quality, virtual coaching. You’ll be part of a collaborative care team and play an essential role in supporting personal growth, behavior change, and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based lifestyle and mental health coaching sessions virtually or by phone
  • Participate in internal training focused on cognitive behavioral techniques
  • Collect, tract, and analyze participant outcomes and progress metrics
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support whole-person care
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Stay current on coaching best practices, behavioral science research, and mental health trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBC-HWC) certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in health or wellness coaching preferred
  • Skilled in co-creating SMART health goals and guiding clients through sustainable behavior change
  • Deep understanding of motivational interviewing and behavior change theories
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and comfortable using electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a confidential, distraction-free home office setup
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and eager to learn

Preferred

  • Passion for mental health, psychological resilience, and holistic well-being
  • Experience working within clinical or healthcare-adjacent teams
  • Knowledge of CBT, ACT, or other evidence-based behavioral frameworks
