Candid currently has an opportunity for a Senior Director of Operations. The Senior Director of Operations is responsible for the efficient and effective internal operations of the organization. They work closely with cross-functional teams, optimize processes, and implement operational policies and procedures to drive performance. They are responsible for the risk management position of the organization, and, in support of operational excellence, they are responsible for ensuring the use of effective, coordinated technology systems, in particular, sound knowledge management and internal communication systems. This role involves close collaboration with executive leadership to support growth initiatives and ensure compliance with industry standards. A strong focus on continuous improvement is essential.
Position: Senior Director of Operations
Reporting to: Chief Operating and Financial Officer
Supervises: Senior Contracts & Compliance Manager, Senior Facilities & Office Services Manager
Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday
Compensation: $140,000-$200,000 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).
Location: Remote. In-person attendance is expected during our annual, weeklong all-staff summit. Additionally, participation for in-person meetings is expected at least once per year for most employees, at least once per quarter for senior leaders, and at least once per month for the executive team. Staff that are not in NYC are expected to travel for these meetings.

Responsibilities
- Cross-Organizational Coordination and Change Management: Serve as the champion for the “Candid Way” – an ongoing improvement effort whose goal is to create standard, efficient work across the organization. Serve as a partner to and central point of contact across divisions to ensure alignment and synergy across work efforts. Coordinate interdepartmental initiatives, ensuring timely communication and collaboration. Drive continuous improvements in processes and tools that will improve organizational coordination in a remote organization. Design and implement change management strategies to support organizational transformation, ensuring clear communications as well as providing support to teams during transitions.
- Annual Planning Cycle and Strategy: Working with Chief Operating and Finance Officer and CEO, ensure organization is aligned around the CEO’s strategic vision for the organization. Responsible for leading and coordinating all planning efforts, in particular the annual planning cycle. Working closely with the Executive Team and Division leaders, lead the development and tracking of the organization’s annual operational plans, finding points of collaboration and opportunities for process improvement. Ensure coordination with FP&A team to ensure budget alignment.
- Risk Management: Responsible for the overall risk management framework for the organization, including but not limited to oversight of legal and SOC-2 compliance, management of insurance policies, and development and management of a risk framework. Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across the organization, including operational, financial, strategic, and compliance risks and lead the development of risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize potential impact and ensure the implementation of these strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management into business planning and decision-making processes. Manage organizational liability and property insurance policies, ensuring adequate coverage is maintained to support organizational strategies.
- Internal operational systems: In coordination with the IT Systems and Operations team, responsible for knowledge management and internal communication systems. Develop and maintain systems for capturing, organizing, and sharing institutional knowledge, ensuring continuous training and use by all staff. Responsible for the organization’s intranet, ensuring effective tools and efficient use. Work with other Operations teams to ensure selection and implementation of effective organizational systems.
- Operational Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key organizational operational projects, developing and maintaining project timelines, budgets, and resource plans. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with annual operational and strategic goals.
- Facilities: Responsible for Candid’s facilities and subleases. Lead development and implementation of a facilities strategy in support of a remote organization.
- 10+ years in operations related roles
- Experience leading and managing change in complex organizations
- Experience with strategic planning, annual planning and budgets
- Demonstrated understanding and use of a variety of technology tools and the impact technology tools have on efficient organizational operations
- Experience with the management and leadership of knowledge management systems, intranet and other internal communication systems
- Demonstrated experience with risk management frameworks and insurance policies
- Experience with facilities management and demonstrated ability to link to organizational strategy
- Demonstrated project management experience, in particular for operational departments of an organization
- Interest and ability to learn new technology systems
- Understanding product development is a plus
- Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
