Mechanical Engineer (Contractor)

Contract: 3 - 6 Months with opportunity to join full-time

Location: VA, Remote

Competitive hourly rate: $80-$100 per hour

What You Will Do

  • Design and model mechanical components using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, thermal, and mechanical systems
  • Collaborate on systems that integrate mechanical components with Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
  • Analyze and simulate systems using MATLAB
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation
  • Support prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration (electrical, manufacturing, QA)



What You Bring

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Strong FEA skills (ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.)
  • Experience with MATLAB for simulation/data analysis
  • Knowledge of PCB design constraints and packaging integration
  • Familiar with DFM/DFA, GD&T, and mechanical documentation standards

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PLM tools (Windchill, Arena, etc.)
  • Exposure to rapid prototyping, 3D printing, or lab testing
  • Understanding of industry standards (ISO, ASME)
