About the role:
Bixal is seeking a highly skilled UX Designer to join our team and help us deliver exceptional user experiences for our government clients. The UX Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct user research, develop service wireframes, and ensure backend services support intuitive, accessible, and consistent user experiences across web and mobile platforms. They will play a key role in aligning back-end capabilities with front-end design needs, using human-centered design principles to improve the Veteran experience across the VA’s digital health tools.
This is a full-time position contingent on contract award by our client, with a defined performance period of one year with two one-year option periods. This role offers you a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a project that aligns with Bixal’s mission of delivering innovative, human-centered solutions. While the role has a fixed duration, we are committed to transparency and collaboration, keeping you informed about contract updates and new opportunities. The salary range for this role is $90,000-$100,000. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. We make compensation decisions thoughtfully, considering your experience, the skills you bring, and our commitment to internal equity. Fairness and transparency are core to how we operate.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting user research to understand the needs, goals, and preferences of government employees and citizens who use our digital products and services
- Creating user personas, user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes that effectively communicate design ideas and concepts to stakeholders
- Collaborating with other designers, developers, and project managers to ensure that design solutions are aligned with project requirements and timelines
- Conducting usability testing and gathering feedback from users to continuously improve the user experience
- Supporting the development of design processes, workflows, and standards that enable efficient and effective design operations
- Staying up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and sharing knowledge with the team to promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Other duties and responsibilities as trained and qualified to perform.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus at least four (4) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience in UX design, preferably in a federal consulting or government environment
- Strong portfolio that demonstrates a range of UX design skills, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Understanding of human-centered design principles and methodologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Familiarity with accessibility and Section 508 compliance guidelines is a plus
- Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
