About The Role

Ritual is looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to work with our operations and finance teams. You will help streamline our accounting policies & procedures, build financial reporting for internal decision makers, and implement new controls to provide guidance as we navigate growth into increasing complexity of new markets, higher SKU counts, etc. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the Ritual brand, have experience in public & private sectors, eCommerce environments and a high-growth company.

What You'll Do

  • Lead monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations and accruals
  • Oversee the management of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Collaborate on monthly reporting and variance analysis.
  • Manage compliance with sales tax, and work with external tax accountants for compliance with income and franchise tax.
  • Collaborate and assist in leading Audit, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.
  • Recommend process improvements, internal controls, and automation in Procure to Pay and Order to Cash processes.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting manager and staff; provide support for their professional development.
  • Provide ad hoc reports/analysis and special projects as needed.

Who You Are

  • Organized. This role will work across a number of different business units, it’s important that you develop systems to keep data & information structured correctly.
  • Analytical. Ritual is a data-driven organization. This person must be able to collect, analyze and present data in order to push projects and strategies through to our executive team.
  • Management. This role will manage a team of two staff members and will require supervision, development and training of junior talent members
  • Communication. In this role, you'd be highly communicative around deadlines, expectations, support and collaboration within the accounting department as well as cross functional teams such as Operations, People’s team, Sales, etc.

What You'll Need

  • Education: BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, CPA is required.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of accounting experience, including a mix of experience in both public and private corporate accounting.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in a global, high growth, direct-to-consumer business model with inventory and digital marketing considerations. Experience with Physical inventory accounting is a must.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, or similar ERP, and strong Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition and cost accounting.
  • NetSuite knowledge is highly desirable.
