Job Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Cash Application Specialist is to receive and apply cash to appropriate customer accounts, and to research and resolve unapplied and misapplied payments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to drive, bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, reach above and below shoulders, stoop, and twist.
Work Environment
Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, work alone and with others. Employee will occasionally be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies. Employee will rarely be required to travel.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Cash Application Specialist is to receive and apply cash to appropriate customer accounts, and to research and resolve unapplied and misapplied payments.
Essential Job Duties
- Receive and post payments to appropriate customer accounts as received from multiple formats (ACH, credit card payments, lock boxes, mail deposits, etc.) per the customer remittance.
- In accordance with internal procedures and practices, communicate refund inquiries to Supervisor.
- Reapply down payments and/or prepayments or unapplied payments to invoices as requested by internal and external customers.
- In accordance with internal procedures and practices, inform appropriate team members of payment discrepancies at time of posting cash to the “Unapplied Payment Discrepancies” folder.
- Update Daily Cash Deposit Reports, as assigned, for the appropriate subsidiary(s).
- Monitor E-billing inbox and update accounts accordingly.
- Prepare, along with Accounts Receivable Specialist(s), lien waivers and send completed documents and/or request to Cash Application Specialist, II.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education, Training, Certifications
- Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or similar; preferred.
- 2 years relevant work experience in accounts receivables and cash applications, required.
- Understanding of basic accounting procedures, preferred.
- Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees, customers, and board of directors.
- Ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office, required.
- 2 years of professional computer skills
- 2 years ERP/CRM systems; Oracle, Salesforce, preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, required.
- Must be able to comply with Summit’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.
