We create content with, and for them that focuses on reconnection and revitalization of culture, language, stories and much more. With the goal of helping them start or continue along their path to healing.
Job Description:
This role will focus on storytelling and collaborating with Indigenous communities to create language and culture reconnection resources. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of storytelling techniques, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work closely with diverse communities. As well as work closely with a small media team to both learn from and share knowledge with.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute entire video and audio projects from start to finish.
- Supervise the editing team and post production process.
- Work closely with Indigenous communities to help them tell their stories, preserve traditions and language, ensuring accurate representation and cultural sensitivity.
- Create engaging resources aimed at preserving and revitalizing Indigenous languages and cultures through storytelling.
- Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for high-quality video recording.
- Direct production, communicate with guests, and film A and B roll footage during filming days.
- Manage equipment maintenance, organization, and set up/dismantling.
- Coordinate production schedules and timelines, including on-site video shoots.
Requirements
- Experience in Film, Media Production, Videography, or related fields.
- Proven experience in video production, media content creation, and post-production.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Media Encoder)
- Strong knowledge of camera operation, video equipment, and computer software.
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for diverse cultures, particularly Indigenous communities.
- Ability to capture authentic stories and build strong relationships with community members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team.
- Willingness and ability to travel to various locations, often remote
- Previous work with Indigenous communities is an asset.
- Experience in a corporate environment is an asset.
