Description

General Purpose

The Residential Accountant is responsible for supporting the Residential Accounting department, including handling monthly and weekly recurring tasks, assisting with financial reporting for a portfolio of multifamily properties. The Residential Accountant is responsible for completing financial statements and lender requirements timely, consistently, and accurately in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities, including bank reconciliations, GL account reconciliations, and recording journal entries for a small portfolio of properties. Handle special reporting requirements for clients and lenders.
  • Work closely with outsourcing partner, monitoring their performance and assisting in issue resolution as needed
  • Support the annual unclaimed property filing process, ensuring compliance with due diligence and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure sales and use tax compliance by managing in-house returns and gathering data for ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare ACH, wire, and book transfer requests.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and timing based on vendor AR statement research.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of annual budgets, as well as multi-year projections.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to streamline workflows and processes.
  • Prioritize exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comply with company policies, accounting procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Requirements

Job Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Clear understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is necessary
  • Solid analytical/logical mindset and attention to detail

Skills

  • Strong in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, work under pressure and meet deadlines

Experience

Minimum of 2 years accounting experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required from an accredited four-year college or university

Salary Description

$60,000-$70,000
