Principal OT Cyber Security Engineer

MOBIA is currently recruiting a Principal OT Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in Alberta or British Columbia. In this pivotal role reporting to the National Cyber Security Practice Lead, you will lead and deliver OT cyber security projects, drive the development of our OT security engineering practice, support pre-sales activities, and provide thought leadership to advance both MOBIA’s and our clients’ security postures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of OT cybersecurity engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, on-time completion, and alignment with client requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee technical teams, manage project milestones, and serve as the primary technical contact for clients, particularly in process control and automation environments.
  • Practice Development
  • Develop and enhance OT cybersecurity methodologies, frameworks, and toolkits to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging OT security technologies and best practices into our offerings.
  • Pre-Sales Support
  • Collaborate with account executives and sales teams to design tailored OT cybersecurity solutions that address client needs and business objectives.
  • Lead technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept activities for prospective clients.
  • Contribute to the development of technical proposals and solution architectures.
  • Thought Leadership
  • Serve as an OT cybersecurity subject matter expert at industry events, conferences, and forums.
  • Develop and publish white papers, technical blogs, and case studies on OT security trends and best practices.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes, emerging threats, and evolving technologies, integrating this knowledge into practice and client advisory services.

 

Skills/Qualifications:  

  • Technical Requirements
  • Deep expertise in OT systems, including ICS, SCADA, DCS, and PLCs, and their associated protocols and architectures.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and validating OT security controls such as network segmentation, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection, aligned with industry standards.
  • Background in security assessments, vulnerability management, and incident response in OT environments.
  • Proficiency in industrial networking, PLC programming and design.
  • Ability to architect and troubleshoot secure process control and automation systems in complex industrial environments.
  • Certifications such as IEC62443, SANS GICSP and GRID.
  • Non-Technical Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Effective collaborator, able to build relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with OT cybersecurity trends and best practices.
