Position Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Systems Solutions Engineer to provide technical design and pre-sales support for integrated wired and wireless solutions across access control, nurse call, surveillance, Unified Communications, and Contact Centre platforms.

This role is ideal for a technically strong, organized individual who enjoys designing Information Communications and Technology (ICT) solutions and providing technical sales support across all verticals, including senior living and healthcare.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in nurse call, surveillance, access control, telephony, network infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, and strong documentation, coordination, and customer-facing skills. While this is not a hands-on installation role, a deep understanding of system implementation is essential to ensure scalable, practical solutions and maintain a strong feedback loop between design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Design & Implementation

  • Design, install, and program Access Control systems, including integration with fire panels, wireless locks, and building automation systems.
  • Configure and support Nurse Call & Wander Management systems (wired and wireless), with a strong understanding of licensing, hardware limitations, and integration with voice, paging, and fire panel systems.
  • Configure telephony systems, including Mitel, Avaya, and Grandstream; knowledge of legacy Panasonic and Definity systems is an asset.
  • Understand Network Video Recorder (NVR) setup and manage camera surveillance systems, with working knowledge of IP configuration and remote access.
  • Interpret electrical, architectural, and conduit drawings to guide accurate installations of maglocks, strikes, Request to Exit systems, and related hardware.
  • Conduct detailed site surveys to gather project requirements and create solution designs.

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Create detailed Scope of Work (SOW) documents that define systems integrator vs. client responsibilities.
  • Generate budgetary estimates and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for quotes, proposals, and RFPs.
  • Coordinate with vendors, cablers, electricians, IT teams, and other stakeholders to finalize integration plans and execution details.
  • Manage and maintain accurate drawings, cabling schedules, proper documentation throughout project phases.

Software & Tool Use

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Build system topologies using Microsoft Visio or equivalent tools.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for cost modeling and estimating.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar technical or solutions engineering role.
  • Experience with nurse call systems, including licensing, hardware limitations, and integrations.
  • Solid understanding of access control, NVR systems, and low-voltage cabling.
  • Familiarity with Layer-2/3 networking, PoE budgeting, and remote server access.
  • Strong documentation and project management skills.
  • Comfortable explaining technical aspects to non-technical clients, particularly in senior living and healthcare settings.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Adaptive problem-solver, particularly under time constraints during live system integrations.
  • Demonstrates both character and competence — acts with integrity, takes ownership, delivers high-quality work, and approaches tasks with urgency
  • Consistently models professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct

Nice to have

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or BICSI
  • Training in specific access control or nurse call platforms
