Location: Remote (Canada)
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain and control performance data collection infrastructure including TDS, RMF, CMF, MICS, MXG, SAS, and DB2 jobs
- Collect and analyze system performance data using tools such as SYSVIEW, RMF, and MICS
- Produce regular capacity and utilization reports, including detailed forecasting of CPU utilization and workload growth
- Maintain and update a comprehensive Capacity Plan to support enterprise resource planning
- Monitor and tune real-time performance of system resources, ensuring stability and throughput efficiency
- Support workload management planning by reviewing and implementing WLM policy changes using IBM WLM ISPF tools
- Evaluate and customize job initiators, batch job structures, and started tasks according to WLM policy for new and existing systems in a Parallel Sysplex environment
- Review workload delay data and performance metrics to identify root causes and recommend remediation
- Maintain key OS performance parameters and make proactive adjustments to optimize resource utilization
- Customize, test, and maintain performance monitoring tools and automation logic
- Run IBM and CA SCRT (Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool) processes to support software billing
- Provide performance support during OS upgrades, system changes, and disaster recovery exercises
- Contribute to Business Continuity Planning and execution, including participation in DR drills
- Respond to and resolve day-to-day performance requests and service inquiries
- Collaborate with global teams to share best practices and improvements in performance monitoring and capacity planning
- Deep experience with mainframe performance monitoring and data collection tools such as RMF, CMF, TDS, MICS, MXG, SAS, and SYSVIEW
- Expertise in WLM configuration and impact assessment in z/OS Parallel Sysplex environments
- Proficiency in SCRT processing for both IBM and CA billing compliance
- Solid understanding of z/OS system internals, batch structures, and initiator class management
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including analysis of delay data and system logs
- Familiarity with forecasting techniques and workload growth modeling
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data and recommend actionable changes
- Ability to work independently and prioritize across multiple concurrent tasks
- Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and global teams
- Exposure to business continuity practices and disaster recovery planning
- Comfortable working in a high-availability environment with 24x7 support expectations
- Familiarity with ITIL-aligned incident and change management practices
- Fully remote role with scheduled and ad hoc on-call responsibilities as part of a rotating 24x7 support model
- Collaboration with global performance and capacity teams, infrastructure architects, and system administrators
- Requires flexible hours to support system changes, performance tuning efforts, and DR testing
