ContractThe Province of New Brunswick is undertaking a major healthcare transformation, consolidating multiple standalone hospital information systems into a single, standardized, and integrated Clinical Information Solution (CIS). A key part of this initiative is the Clinical Standards Project, which focuses on identifying and developing consistent clinical practices across the province to improve patient care and ensure responsible management of health data.
To support this work, the Department of Health is seeking experienced Clinical Business Analysts (CBAs) with a focus on clinical documentation. CBAs will play a key role in developing province-wide clinical standards, including standardized order sets, documentation templates, and clinical workflows used by frontline healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
Working collaboratively with project team members, clinical stakeholders, and subject matter experts, the CBA will be responsible for gathering business requirements and helping design clinical content that aligns with the goals of a unified CIS. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of clinical environments and a clear understanding of how digital systems impact clinical workflows, processes, and documentation.
With the support of the Clinical Team Lead and Project Manager, the CBA will be responsible for:
· gathering and defining business and system requirements,
· conducting gap analysis,
· developing design documents,
· facilitating engagement sessions to achieve the project’s objective, and
· foster and maintain close working relationships with the various lines of business to ensure the business and information technology requirements align.
The chosen individual’s work will be comprised of a mixture of steady state and project-based efforts.
Location: Remote, Fredericton NB. Successful candidate should be able to travel to the province of New Brunswick at least once a month throughout the project duration.
Candidate requirements:
- Education: A university degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Clinical Business Analysis Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Business Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst, responsible for requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, business process and use case analysis, detailed solution design, and producing business analysis documentation within the last 10 years.
- At least 6 years of experience specifically supporting one or more of the following domains: computerized provider order entry (CPOE), clinical documentation, order sets, or ancillary services such as Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, or Laboratory.
- Health Information Systems (HIS) Experience: At least 5 years of experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR), Clinical Information Systems (CIS), or similar health IT platforms. Minimum 3 years of experience on CIS implementation projects, ideally in operational healthcare settings with direct involvement in system design or build.
- Workshop Facilitation: At least 3 years of experience leading workshops with clinicians and healthcare staff to define business/system requirements and create user stories or use cases.
- Communication and Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in both French and English are strongly preferred.
- Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage effectively with team members, SMEs, and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Multitasking and Project Agility: Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities and contribute to multiple project streams simultaneously. Minimum 5 years of experience in dynamic project environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Office 365 tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams). At least 2 years of experience using Atlassian JIRA in a project or operational setting.
- Public Healthcare Experience: Prior experience working within public health authorities with a solid understanding of the healthcare system, policies, and operational structures.
