Position Overview?

Element is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern to support our organization's implementation of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF). This 12-week internship provides hands-on experience in cybersecurity policy development, gap analysis, and control implementation . You will gain experience developing, improving and implementing security policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current security systems and practices against NIST CSF requirements
• Develop gap analysis documentationPrioritize updates to security policies and procedures to align with NIST CSF
• Assist with the implementation of security controls based on framework requirements
• Develop automation for implemented security controls
• Create compliance tracking documentation
• Prepare executive summary reports on improvements and future roadmap
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• A minimum of 2.5 GPA
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Ability to work 10-20 hours a week
• Ability to pass a background check.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
• Must reside in the Continental US, preferably within the state of Maryland

The likely salary range for this position is $18.00-$20.00. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or rate. Rather, the rate will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
