About Colonist

We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 2,466 years playing 45 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.

About The Role

As a Product Manager at Colonist, you’ll own the product lifecycle, driving user activation, retention, and virality through data-driven insights and a deep understanding of user behavior. Your mission is to accelerate our growth by optimizing funnels, solving mobile product challenges, and prioritizing features that resonate with our 5M+ yearly active players. You’ll lead cross-functional initiatives, collaborate with a passionate team, and have the ownership and autonomy to shape the future of our game platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and optimize user activation funnels to boost acquisition and retention.
  • Identify and resolve mobile product issues by analyzing player feedback (NPS, Reddit, Discord) and crash reports.
  • Conduct user interviews, playtesting, and data analysis to uncover insights and validate solutions.
  • Prioritize platform features aligned with company goals, focusing on simplicity and impact.
  • Lead team meetings, delegate tasks, and align efforts to drive company objectives.
  • Optimize landing and home pages to increase user acquisition and virality.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally in gaming or B2C products.
  • Expert-level skills in funnel analysis, user segmentation, analytics, and experimentation metrics.
  • Strong ability to conduct user interviews, communicate effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Working knowledge of playtesting, game design principles, and player behavior.
  • Comfortable with remote, asynchronous work and excellent English communication skills.
  • Basic wireframing skills and familiarity with data querying (e.g., SQL joins, group by).

Nice to Have

  • Deep knowledge of mobile gaming best practices and industry trends.
  • Experience with AI chatbots for user engagement.
  • Familiarity with crash report analysis and internet forum communication.
  • Basic ability to read code for better collaboration with engineers.

Our Values at Colonist

We strongly adhere to these values in our team - if these resonate, then you’ll love working here!

Dependability

We're self-driven players who deliver without needing supervision. When we commit to something, we make it happen.

Ownership

We take full responsibility and go beyond our roles to improve Colonist. Each of us acts like we own the company, because through our stock options, we do.

Clear Communication

In our remote environment, written communication is key. We're direct, structured, and always keep our team in the loop.

Efficient Execution

We move fast and focus on impact. Instead of getting stuck on perfect solutions, we find practical ways forward and get things done.

Continuous Learning

We're curious problem solvers who love a challenge. We constantly seek new ideas, embrace feedback, and aren't afraid to change our minds when we're wrong.

Compensation

Benefits and Compensation

  • Competitive salary paid in USD
  • Stock options (own a piece of Colonist)

Benefits

  • Fully remote work
  • Flexible hours - Work on your own time, we’re async
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Work equipment provided

Growth

  • Work directly impacts 5M+ yearly active players
  • Rapid learning opportunities
  • Work with exceptional colleagues on challenging projects
  • Freedom to identify and solve problems
  • Access to all company metrics and discussions
