Reporting to the Manager, IT Commercial Solutions, we are looking for a talented, detail-oriented and self-motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving our application systems and ensuring that business requirements are effectively translated into technical specifications for a variety of applications – such as, but not limited to, Shopify, CRM, Corporate & Brand Websites. As the Business Systems Analyst you will be involved in …
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and gather business requirements.
- Analyze business processes, workflows, and existing application functionalities to identify areas for improvement.
- Document and prioritize business requirements, user stories, and use cases.
- Application Development Support:
- Act as the liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding of requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for the development team.
- Review and validate application designs and ensure they align with business objectives.
- Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Test Automation/ Scripting: Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for functional and non-functional aspects of the product. Continuously improve the automation process and frameworks.
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases to ensure that applications meet the defined requirements in collaboration with the Test Engineer.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure that any defects are properly documented and resolved.
- Familiar with AI tools to support testing and documentation
- Process Improvement & Documentation:
- Identify and recommend process improvements for more efficient and effective application development.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for application processes, system requirements, and solutions.
- Project Support & Reporting:
- Support project managers in tracking project progress, managing risks, and resolving issues.
- Assist with the preparation of project status reports and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and deliver small operational initiatives
- Application Support & Compliance:
- Work with business stakeholders and external vendors to resolve application system issues.
- Proactively identify, catalog, prioritize application issues, then provide accurate and timely resolution of these issues while ensuring operational stability.
- Proactively triage and escalate application issues to other members of the application team or to other areas within the IT Operations team.
- Participate in application auditing, user access reviews and audit walkthrough meetings as part of IT General Controls and compliance requirements.
- Stay Updated:
- Keep up with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in system analysis, testing and IT.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably with application development or software solutions.
- Strong understanding of business processes and systems analysis.
- Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, AI Tools or other project management and documentation software.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Experience with process mapping and workflow design tools.
- Familiarity with Business Applications: Shopify, D365 CRM, Master Data Management Applications, AI Tools
- Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are a plus.
- Proven experience as a Tester or similar role in a software development environment.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar incident management software
- Understanding of incident response, incident management, and change management processes and best practices. ITIL certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with IT General Controls, SOX compliance and audit controls is considered an asset.
- Industry Experience: Working in the Cannabis industry or highly-regulated industry would be considered an asset
- Ability to think strategically, problem solve and make quick decisions.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
